Bishop Carroll faced Maize in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Golden Eagles fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 7-5. The Golden Eagles' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Bishop Carroll got a good showing from KJ McGill, who struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). McGill has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bishop Carroll saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Lager, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another was Harrison King, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 20-6. As for Maize, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 18-8.
