After a string of seven wins, L.C. Bird's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 43-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Glen Allen Jaguars. The Skyhawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.
L.C. Bird's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kylie Kent, who went 5 of 9 en route to 10 points in addition to seven rebounds and five blocks. That's the most blocks Kent has posted since back in December of 2023. Sasha Hodge was another key player, going 5 for 12 on her way to 12 points.
Glen Allen had a senior duo take command as Sydney Worsham went 5 of 10 en route to 18 points along with six boards and six steals and Lindsey Shoulders went 7 for 14 on her way to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makayla Louis, who posted two points.
L.C. Bird's loss dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Glen Allen, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-1.
L.C. Bird didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 68-18 victory against Huguenot on the 27th. As for Glen Allen, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 70-6 win against Thomas Jefferson on the 28th.
