The Templeton Eagles will challenge the Lompoc Braves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Lompoc will be up against a hot Templeton team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Templeton came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against King City. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since April 24, 2024.

02/28/25 @ Nipomo | 2 |
02/26/25 vs Arroyo Grande | 2 |
Tegan Jay spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 13 Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.8 strikeouts per game.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Emma Kriling, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. That stolen base was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Marquart, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Templeton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, Lompoc hadn't done well against Dos Pueblos recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Lompoc sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-4 win over Dos Pueblos. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Braves have posted against the Chargers since April 9, 2021.
Alex Brooks looked comfortable as she pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Rianna Stouppe and Teagan Thompson did most of the damage at the plate: Stouppe went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Thompson went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Natalie Aguilar, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
The win (which was Lompoc's third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Templeton, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Templeton's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's match. Templeton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Lompoc, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Templeton continue to outrun the ball?
Everything went Templeton's way against Lompoc in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Templeton made off with an 11-5 win. Does Templeton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lompoc turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
