Soccer Game Preview: Mountain View vs. Mesa

The Mountain View Toros will head out on the road to face off against the Mesa Jackrabbits at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Mountain View is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Dobson just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Monday. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, Mesa entered their tilt with Gila Ridge on Wednesday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They never let the Hawks onto the board and left with a 4-0 win. Give the Jackrabbits' defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

They hit Gila Ridge with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Santiago Villamarin, Alonso Vazquez, Isaias Barron, and Evan Romero.

Mesa has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 27 goals over those eight contests. As for Mountain View, their defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-4-1.

Mountain View beat Mesa by a goal in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mountain View since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
