Basketball Recap: St. Edward Beavers vs. High Plains Storm
If the St. Edward Beavers were feeling good off their 56-32 takedown of the Cedar Bluffs Wildcats last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. St. Edward took a serious blow against the Storm on Monday, falling 64-24. The match was a 19-19 toss-up at halftime, but St. Edward couldn't quite close it out.
Despite the loss, St. Edward still got an impressive performance from Anthony Reader, who scored 14 points.
St. Edward has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for High Plains, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
St. Edward won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on February 6th. Fullerton is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for High Plains, they will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Bruning-Davenport/Shickley is ranked 192nd, while the Storm are ranked 174th).
