Basketball Recap: Spring Woods Now 14-3 over Last 17 Games

Spring Woods had won four straight road games and Tavionn Pickens did his part to make it five on Saturday. The Spring Woods Tigers secured a 49-45 W over the Sterling Raiders thanks in part to Pickens, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 19 boards. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (four).

Sterling's loss came despite strong showings from Braylon Peterson and Braydon Hughes. Peterson went 7 of 13 on his way to 14 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Hughes posted 15 points along with six boards and three steals. Hughes' morning made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Tristan August, who earned ten points and six rebounds.

Spring Woods is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Sterling, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-13.

Spring Woods wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 76-36 victory against Milby on the 4th. Sterling has also already played their next contest, a 76-66 win against Waltrip on the 3rd.
