Basketball Game Preview: Interlake Saints vs. Bellevue Wolverines

Interlake is 1-9 against Bellevue since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Interlake Saints will host the Bellevue Wolverines at 7:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Bellevue will be up against a hot Interlake team: the squad just extended their winning streak to four. Interlake took down Newport - Bellevue 60-41 on Friday. Given the Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while the Knights are ranked 348th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Clark Tonnon, who went 9 for 12 on his way to 25 points and seven assists. Another player making a difference was Ty Marcum, who posted 12 points.

Interlake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 16 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, Bellevue's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of West Valley by a score of 71-68. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (55), the Wolverines still had to take the loss.

Interlake is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Bellevue, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-3.

Interlake was taken down by Bellevue 88-51 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Interlake was down 48-24.
