Softball Recap: Grainger Has No Trouble Against Cherokee

Grainger lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Cherokee, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's match. The Grainger Grizzlies were the clear victor by a 14-5 margin over the Cherokee Chiefs on Tuesday. This was payback for the Grizzlies, who suffered a 4-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Destanee Davis made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero). She was even better at the plate, firing off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-5. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, McKenna Kee was a standout: she scored three runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-5. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of McKinley Mills, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-5.

The win made it two in a row for Grainger and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9.5 runs. As for Cherokee, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Grainger is taking a road trip to face off against Union County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cherokee, they will challenge Claiborne at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
