Volleyball Game Preview: King Vikings vs. Winsor Wildcats

The King Vikings will face off against the Winsor Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

King is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Connecticut's top teams: Greens Farms Academy, who was ranked ninth at the time (King was ranked first). The Vikings were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Dragons on Friday.

King never let Greens Farms Academy on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-16, 26-24.

Caroline Curry and Emily McAuliffe were among the main playmakers for King as the former had eight digs and three aces and the latter had four aces and one assist. McAuliffe has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played.

They weren't the only good servers: King was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in 18 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Winsor entered their tilt with Beaver Country Day on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Beaver with a sharp 3-0 win.

King's victory bumped their record up to 20-0. As for Winsor, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
