Basketball Recap: Maywood CES Takes a Loss

Maywood CES was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Maywood Academy Nighthawks 73-23. The Wolfpack were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 46-8.

Maywood Academy was led to victory by Rodrigo Miranda and Oscar Lepe. Miranda dropped a double-double with 14 points and 15 assists, while Lepe went 5 for 11 en route to 15 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. Miranda is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now racked up eight or more in the last 28 games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Fernando Payan, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 13 boards.

Maywood CES's defeat dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Maywood Academy, they now have a winning record of 13-12.

Maywood CES didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 65-24 loss against Marquez on the 6th. As for Maywood Academy, they have also already played their next game, a 70-50 defeat against Sotomayor on the 6th.
