Basketball Recap: Jefferson Takes a Loss

Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 102-56 loss at the hands of the Sioux City East Black Raiders. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while the Black Raiders are ranked 35th).

Jefferson's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braxton Parks, who posted eight points. Those eight points gave Parks a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Demari Robinson, who went 6 of 13 en route to 10 points.

Jefferson's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Sioux City East, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.

Jefferson will face off against Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln will roll in looking for their 16th straight victory, something Jefferson surely won't give up without a fight. As for Sioux City East, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Sergeant Bluff-Luton at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Sioux City East's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
