Baseball Recap: Fruitvale Takes a Loss

Fruitvale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the Cumby Trojans, falling 14-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 21-0 last Tuesday.

Fruitvale saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kyler Barnhart, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. Cash Butler also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Fruitvale's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Cumby, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-14.

Coming up, Fruitvale will face off against Hawkins at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Cumby, they will take on Yantis at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Owls have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.09 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of.
