Neshannock took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Tuesday. They blew past the Ellwood City Wolverine 8-2. The Lancers have beaten the Wolverine the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wolverine has come to flipping the script.

Jake Rynd was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Hunter Wilson was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-1. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Ryan Cameron was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.

Neshannock was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ellwood City only posted a batting average of .167.

This is the second loss in a row for Ellwood City and nudges their season record down to 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Neshannock will welcome Central Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Ellwood City, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Riverside at 4:30 p.m.
