Rancho Dominguez hasn't had much luck against San Pedro recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Rancho Dominguez fell victim to Banning and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Pilots, falling 16-0. The Lobos have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for San Pedro, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Gardena a 17-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Pirates have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Maya Sindicich made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Brianna Rodela was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Mia Guerrero was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
San Pedro's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Rancho Dominguez, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Rancho Dominguez suffered a grim 26-0 defeat to San Pedro when the teams last played back in April. Can the Lobos avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
