Preview: Mitchell Tigers vs. Sidney Red Raiders
Mitchell has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Sidney Red Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mitchell will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings (they are ranked 218th, while Sidney is ranked eighth).
Mitchell suffered their biggest defeat since December 15, 2023 on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 40-20 walloping at the hands of Southeast.
Mitchell's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Addy Bowlin, who scored 15 points, and Jolee Schwery who scored three points along with six rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Schwery posted two or more blocks.
Meanwhile, Sidney put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 46-37 win over Y.
Mitchell's loss was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-12. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.7 points per game. As for Sidney, their win bumped their record up to 15-0.
Mitchell took a serious blow against Sidney when the teams last played on January 9th, falling 71-14. Can Mitchell avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
