Softball Recap: Jerome Finds Home Field Redemption Against Minico

There's no place like home for Jerome, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. Everything went their way against the Minico Spartans on Friday as they made off with a 12-4 victory. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Briaunna Robbinette made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. Robbinette was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season.

In other batting news, Sawyer Gararad was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs, three doubles, and three RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Baylie Burke also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Jerome was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .382. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Jerome pushed their record up to 7-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Minico, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Jerome will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Spartans: the pair will be back at it again later today.
