Basketball Game Preview: Huntington Huntsmen vs. Zane Trace Pioneers

Huntington is 0-10 against Zane Trace since January of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Huntington Huntsmen will face off against the Zane Trace Pioneers at 6:00 p.m.

Last Tuesday, Huntington was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 66-62 to Nelsonville-York. That's two games in a row now that the Huntsmen have lost by exactly four points.

Meanwhile, Zane Trace didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Jackson on Tuesday, but they still walked away with a 54-50 win.

Zane Trace's win came from a few key players Huntington will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Noah Houston, who posted 12 points. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Landen Jarrell was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Zane Trace smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Zane Trace has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.1 points per game. As for Huntington, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

Huntington suffered a grim 61-40 defeat to Zane Trace in their previous matchup back in January. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Huntington was down 41-18.
