Volleyball Recap: Monroe Area Takes a Loss

Monroe Area was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Prince Avenue Christian Wolverines. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on August 9th.

Ashley Phiel paced Monroe Area's offense, picking up nine kills. Phiel got some help from Alyssa Brown and her 24 assists. Innocence Arnold controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Monroe Area's loss dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Prince Avenue Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-11.

After both having extra time off, Monroe Area and West Hall will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Prince Avenue Christian, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 2-0 defeat against Apalachee on the 28th.
