Basketball Recap: Washington County's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Washington County played in conference for the first time on Thursday and they got just the result they we're looking for. They snuck past the Onaga Buffaloes with a 38-32 win. The victory was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Onaga's loss came despite strong showings from Abbie Ringel and Delaney Figge. Ringel went 5 for 8 on her way to 10 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Figge almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 boards. Those three steals gave Ringel a new career-high.

The win got Washington County back to even at 5-5. As for Onaga, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Frankfort the next time they take the court. Onaga will head out to face Frankfort at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while Washington County will host them on January 31st.
