Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Kaycee Schmidt and Brooke Petska Lead Bloomer to Victory

While Bloomer's win against Northwestern wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blackhawks narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Tigers 2-1. The win was nothing new for the Blackhawks as they're now sitting on three straight.

Bloomer had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 15-25, 25-17, 15-9.

Leading Bloomer to victory were Brooke Petska and Kaycee Schmidt. Petska had 11 digs and one assist, while Schmidt had six digs and two aces. That's the most aces Schmidt has posted over her last six matches. Ilona Tozer also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Genna Kreuser and Emma Dahl certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Kreuser had 11 digs and two aces, while Dahl had ten assists and three digs. Kreuser has been hot recently, having posted ten or more digs the last three times she's played.

Bloomer's victory bumped their record up to 18-13. As for Northwestern, their loss dropped their record down to 15-8.

Bloomer didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against St. Croix Central on the 4th. As for Northwestern, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Ladysmith on the 4th.
