Baseball Game Preview: Redondo Union Sea Hawks vs. Yorba Linda Mustangs

The Redondo Union Sea Hawks will hit the road for the first time this season to take on the Yorba Linda Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Redondo Union is leaving town to face Yorba Linda after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Redondo Union took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of San Juan Hills on Tuesday.

Parker Leoff was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. Matthew McCauley was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Yorba Linda fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Downey on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 6-5.

Michael Talbott made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Nathan Schneider, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Even though they lost, Yorba Linda kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Downey only hit five hits.

Redondo Union was able to grind out a solid win over Yorba Linda in their previous meeting back in April of 2015, winning 9-4. Does Redondo Union have another victory up their sleeve, or will Yorba Linda turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
