Preview: Hoggard Vikings vs. South Brunswick Cougars
Hoggard is 10-0 against South Brunswick since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Hoggard Vikings will be playing in front of their home fans against the South Brunswick Cougars at 7:30 p.m. Hoggard has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 314 points over their last five matches.
While it was all tied up 27-27 at halftime, Hoggard was not quite Ashley's equal in the second half on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 63-62 to the Screaming Eagle. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Jaylen Herring put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 21 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Hunter McGrath, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, South Brunswick's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 11th straight defeat. They fell just short of Topsail by a score of 70-67. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Hoggard's loss dropped their record down to 13-9. As for South Brunswick, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 15 of their last 16 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season.
