Basketball Game Preview: Pflugerville Connally Cougars vs. Georgetown Eagles

Pflugerville Connally is 0-10 against Georgetown since November of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Pflugerville Connally Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Georgetown Eagles at 7:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Pflugerville Connally was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-42 to Weiss. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1158th, while the Wolves are ranked 521st).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Aniya Toney, who went 7 for 16 on her way to 15 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. That was a full 35.7% of Pflugerville Connally's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Makrista Dolphus, who put up six points along with ten boards and six steals.

Meanwhile, everything went Georgetown's way against Pflugerville on Friday as Georgetown made off with a 68-44 victory. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 games by 22 points or more this season.

Georgetown has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Pflugerville Connally, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-22.

Pflugerville Connally was dealt a bruising 87-23 defeat at the hands of Georgetown in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Can Pflugerville Connally avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
