Softball Recap: Bloomington North Comes Up Short

Columbus North hit Bloomington North with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cougars fell 5-1 to the Bull Dogs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 15-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Brylee Moore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bloomington North saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaydence Silvers, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Korinne Galligher also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Bloomington North's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Columbus North, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-6.

Bloomington North and Columbus North could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings. The Cougars will challenge Terre Haute North Vigo at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank disadvantage (233 vs. 9). Meanwhile, Columbus North (ranked 94th) will meet Center Grove (ranked 26th) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
