Softball Recap: Reading Takes a Loss

Reading had lost ten straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-6 to make it 11. They came up short against the Governor Mifflin Mustangs, falling 15-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red KNights of the 15-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2025.

Yolanda Velez made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Kellyn Paulino, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

As for Governor Mifflin, they moved to 2-6 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Governor Mifflin's side, Samantha Wagner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on 13 hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Reilly Martin, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Abbigail Brunelli was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Reading will welcome Conrad Weiser at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Governor Mifflin, they will be playing at home against Twin Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
