Recap: Justin Garza Guardians vs. San Joaquin Memorial Panthers

The Justin Garza Guardians had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They claimed a resounding 38-10 victory over San Joaquin Memorial at home. The result was nothing new for Justin Garza, who have now won three matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

Caleb Matthews continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 285 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was London Alexander, who picked up 157 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

When it comes to explaining why San Joaquin Memorial lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jordan Colbert. Despite the final result, he rushed for 124 yards, and also picked up 49 receiving yards.

Justin Garza now has a winning record of 5-4. As for San Joaquin Memorial, they have fallen quite a ways from their 10-3 record last season and are now at 3-6.

Justin Garza will be playing in front of their home fans against Madera at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in California (Madera is ranked 316th, while Justin Garza is ranked 325th). San Joaquin Memorial will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Sanger at 7:30 p.m. on October 27th. Sanger knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully San Joaquin Memorial likes a good challenge.
