Basketball Recap: Tabiona Comes Up Short

Tabiona was the 60-53 winner over Tintic when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Tabiona Tigers fell to the Tintic Miners 62-57.

Defeat or not, Tabiona got some senior leadership from Bryson Fabrizio and Gavin Rhoades. Fabrizio went 7 of 16 en route to 17 points in addition to eight assists and five boards, while Rhoades dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Rhoades' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Stran Giles was another key player, putting up six points and five boards.

Even though they lost, Tabiona smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Tintic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Cole Ward led the charge by going 5 for 8 on his way to 15 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Ward is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Haygen Jameson, who posted 15 points and seven boards.

The loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 16-4. As for Tintic, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Tabiona didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-47 defeat against Rich on the 8th. As for Tintic, they have also already played their next match, a 65-61 win against Wendover on the 8th.
