Basketball Recap: Central Cabarrus Comes Up Short

Central Cabarrus lost against Robinson back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Central Cabarrus Vikings fell 65-53 to the Robinson Bulldogs. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 250th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 79th).

Despite the loss, Central Cabarrus still got an impressive performance from Kevonta' Martin, who posted 20 points and six rebounds. That was a full 37.7% of Central Cabarrus' points, marking the third time in a row he's scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Cayden Smith, who earned nine points and three steals.

Even though they lost, Central Cabarrus smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matchups.

David Frazier continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Robinson, dropping a double-double with 18 points and ten boards. Da'Montre Harlee was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Central Cabarrus' defeat dropped their record down to 12-11. As for Robinson, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-3.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central Cabarrus will venture away from home to square off against Concord at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Central Cabarrus is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 63.7 points per game this season. As for Robinson, they will head out to take on East Rowan at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
