High-flying offenses are becoming more of a staple among Utah high school football teams these days. This has led to an increasing crop of wide receivers and slot backs who are pushing for 1,000 yard seasons each fall.

Last year, eight different receivers eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards in the Utah high school football ranks – led by Jordan standout Spencer Curtis, who finished with 1555 yards and 13 touchdowns on 92 receptions. Three others finished within 100 yards of that 1,000 yard plateau. A large crop of receivers is again challenging for 1,000 yards as the midway point of the 2016 regular season approaches.

Another Jordan receiver, Isaiah Jackson, leads the pack. The senior has 677 yards and eight touchdowns through four games. Jackson is averaging an astonishing 27.1 yards per catch. Ty Jones isn't far behind. Jones, who is committed to Washington, has tallied 631 yards and seven scores on 24 receptions. He is averaging an equally impressive 26.3 yards per catch.

The Beetdiggers are the only school with multiple players ranking among the top 10 receivers. Curtis, a senior, has 389 yards and five touchdowns on 19 catches this season.

Class 3AA has the highest number receivers who rank in the top 10 in receiving yards. Four receivers from Class 3AA schools are in this group. Dixie junior Hobbs Nyberg leads the way with 585 yards and three touchdowns on 29 receptions. Nyberg is averaging a healthy 20.2 yards per catch. Park City senior Collin Zur also ranks in the top five with 464 yards and four touchdowns on 28 catches.
