Recap: Norwood Pirates vs. Tipton Cardinals

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Norwood Pirates can now relate to. They were dealt a 62-35 defeat at the hands of the Cardinals on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Norwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 118th, while Tipton is ranked 32nd).

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Autumn Gunter, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Gentry Davault, who scored seven points along with three blocks.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tipton to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Schlotzhauer, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds. Schlotzhauer is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last 22 games she's played. Courtney Edwards was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Norwood and nudges their season record down to 24-8. As for Tipton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 20 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 28-4 record this season.

Norwood does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Tipton also has no future games currently scheduled.
