While Appomattox County's victory against Randolph-Henry wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Appomattox County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 win over Randolph-Henry on Thursday. That's two games straight that the Raiders have won by exactly two runs.

Sydney Bryant made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Bryant was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on MaKenzie Elliott, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Kaeleigh Maner was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

The victory made it two in a row for Appomattox County and bumps their season record up to 3-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Randolph-Henry, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Looking ahead, Appomattox County will square off against Amherst County at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Randolph-Henry, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rustburg at 6:00 p.m. on April 7.
