Baseball Recap: Soquel Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Soquel had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They blew past the San Lorenzo Valley Cougars 10-0. Considering the Knights have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Jake Escalante was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March.

In other pitching news, Dylan Hull looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Hudson Summerrill was incredible, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Downs, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI.

Soquel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .346 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Soquel's record is now 15-3. As for San Lorenzo Valley, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.
