Preview: Mandarin Mustangs vs. Paxon School For Advanced Studies Golden Eagles
Two dominant guards in Nykeria Thomas and Kennedy Waymer are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Mandarin Mustangs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Paxon School For Advanced Studies Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
On Tuesday, Mandarin ended up a good deal behind Ridgeview and lost 54-39. Mandarin has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Mia Chandler, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Kourtney Johnson, who scored ten points along with six steals.
Meanwhile, Paxon School For Advanced Studies unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak last Tuesday. They took a 67-50 bruising from Bolles. Paxon School For Advanced Studies has not had much luck with Bolles recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Mandarin's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-2. As for Paxon School For Advanced Studies, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Mandarin was able to grind out a solid victory over Paxon School For Advanced Studies in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, winning 64-51. Will Mandarin repeat their success, or does Paxon School For Advanced Studies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
