Preview: Decatur Central Hawks vs. Bloomington South Panthers

Decatur Central is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Bloomington South is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Decatur Central Hawks will take on the Bloomington South Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Decatur Central walked away with it. They really took it to Whiteland for the full four quarters, racking up a 41-7 victory at home. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Decatur Central had established a 24 point advantage.

Decatur Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was KC Berry out in front who rushed for 119 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Berry was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of N'po Dodo, who rushed for 159 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.4 yards per carry.

Meanwhile, Bloomington South got the win against Evansville North on Friday by a conclusive 42-21.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bloomington South to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jarrin Alley, who threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Lucas Waldon was another key contributor, picking up 172 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Their wins bumped Decatur Central to 10-2 and Bloomington South to 11-1.

Friday's match might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Decatur Central has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 242.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Bloomington South struggles in that department as they've been averaging 179.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.

Everything came up roses for Decatur Central against Bloomington South when the teams last played back in November of 2018 as the squad secured a 28-0 victory. Will Decatur Central repeat their success, or does Bloomington South have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
