Silver Valley had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 0-9 to make it 13. They lost 31-9 to the Academy of Careers & Exploration Eagle. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagle this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 22-2 on April 8th.
Danika Gonzalez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Olivia Pulsipher, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
As for Academy of Careers & Exploration, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-6-1. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Academy of Careers & Exploration's side, Izabella Sanchez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sanchez was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Addison Shockley was a standout: she got on base in all six of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Coffel, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, nine RBI, and three runs.
Coincidentally, Silver Valley and Academy of Careers & Exploration will both be playing Hesperia Christian the next time they take the field. The Trojans will host the Patriots at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Eagle will host them at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
