Softball Recap: Northwest Rankin Gets the Win

Northwest Rankin's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They never let the Vancleave Bulldogs get on the board and left with a 1-0 win. The one-run effort marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Brooke Smith was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Sybil Glover also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Northwest Rankin's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Vancleave, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Northwest Rankin has already played their next contest, an 8-1 win against Baker on the 8th. As for Vancleave, they will be playing at home against Pascagoula at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pascagoula is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
