Recap: Stanton Blue Devils vs. Baldwin Indians
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Eagle's View, the Stanton Blue Devils were happy to have found some success on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Baldwin 75-47 at home. Given Stanton's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 368th, while Baldwin is ranked 766th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Raza Cottey was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 21 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. Filip Jakovljevic was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Stanton's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Baldwin, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stanton and Trinity Christian Academy will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Baldwin, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Yulee at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Yulee focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Friday.
