Softball Game Preview: Sheridan Generals vs. Jackson Ironman/Ironladies

The Sheridan Generals will face off against the Jackson Ironman/Ironladies at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Jackson will be up against a hot Sheridan squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. The Generals blew past River View 14-3 on Wednesday. That's two games straight that the Generals have won by exactly 11 runs.

Meanwhile, Jackson never let their opponents score on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over Chillicothe. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Ironman/Ironladies considering their two-run performance the game before.

Serenity Taylor tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, KJ Worsham and Daycee Howard did most of the damage at the plate: Worsham went 2-for-3 with five RBI and one run, while Howard went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Howard a new career-high. Bryn Denny was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs.

Jackson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .594. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Chillicothe only posted an OBP of .250.

Jackson is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Sheridan, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4.
