Baseball Recap: Yazoo County Panthers vs. Vicksburg Gators
After flying high against Humphreys County last Wednesday, Yazoo County came back down to earth. The Yazoo County Panthers took a 15-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vicksburg Gators on Thursday. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
Graelan Shaffer was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. Jordan Jaco was another key contributor, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Even though they lost, Yazoo County didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with ten strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vicksburg only tossed four.
On Vicksburg's side, Braylon Green was incredible, going 3-for-4 with a home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of MIncer Minor, who scored two runs while going 3-for-5.
Yazoo County's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Vicksburg, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-15.
Yazoo County will be playing at home against Edwards at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Yazoo County will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive. As for Vicksburg, they will head out on the road to challenge Columbus at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vicksburg is facing Columbus at the right time seeing as Columbus is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
