Baseball Game Preview: La Plata Warriors vs. Northern Patriots

The La Plata Warriors will challenge the Northern Patriots at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. La Plata will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

La Plata gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. Everything went their way against St. Charles as they made off with a 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won nine games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Northern, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They skirted past Huntingtown 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Patriots have posted since May 6, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Dylan Rice, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Connor Renzi was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

La Plata's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Northern, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Everything went La Plata's way against Northern when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as La Plata made off with a 9-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
