After a string of four wins, the Powell County Pirates's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Breathitt County by a score of 80-77. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (72), Powell County still had to take the loss.

Breathitt County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Austin Sperry out in front who scored 19 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds. Sperry has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last four times he's played. Canaan Gross was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.

Powell County's loss dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Breathitt County, their victory bumped their record up to 13-8.

Powell County will head out on the road to take on the Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Breathitt County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Patriots at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
