Baseball Recap: Assumption Academy Comes Up Short

Assumption Academy extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 1-5 in the process. They lost 11-1 to the Bluegrass United Bluehawks. If Assumption Academy was looking for revenge after losing 12-2 to Bluegrass United when the teams met back in March of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Bluegrass United, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games.

For Bluegrass United's part, Caeden Brothers was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Brothers also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Bluegrass United is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-12 otherwise. Brothers was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bailey Hawkins, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kyle Graham, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Assumption Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bluegrass United, they will take on Highlands Latin at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
