Baseball Recap: La Canada Triumphs

La Canada proved they can win big on Friday (they won by seven) and on Saturday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Northview Vikings 5-4.

Ross Piken was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Piken was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Will Park was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Ethan Wong was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs.

La Canada's record now sits at 3-1. As for Northview, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, La Canada will host St. Francis at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northview, they will venture away from home to face off against Bonita at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Vikings 3.6, the Bearcats 3.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.
