Soccer Game Preview: Mission Bay vs. University City

The Mission Bay Buccaneers will venture away from home to square off against the University City Centurions at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

University City will be up against a hot Mission Bay team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Mission Bay walked away with a 4-2 win over Kearny on Tuesday. Given the Buccaneers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Komets are ranked 378th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mission Bay hit Kearny with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Kai Barrios (2), Lucas Peterson, and Kevin Hernandez.

Meanwhile, University City was not the first on the board last Tuesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Hoover by a score of 4-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Centurions who have now won three contests in a row.

Mission Bay pushed their record up to 9-2-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those five matches. As for University City, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-2-5 record this season.
