Recap: Mission Oak Hawks vs. Washington Union Panthers
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Mission Oak Hawks walked away with it. They strolled past the Panthers with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 39-25. The victory was nothing new for Mission Oak as they're now sitting on four straight.
Mission Oak's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Daniel Gonzalez, who rushed for 51 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 109 yards and a touchdown. Gonzalez has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenny Jackson, who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Loss or not, Washington Union got some senior leadership from Decurtis Stroud who rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries and Ryan Brown who picked up 117 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Stroud's longest rush was for an incredible 73 yards.
Mission Oak's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.3 points per game. As for Washington Union, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Mission Oak will stay at home for another week and welcome Kerman at 7:00 p.m. on November 24th. Kerman is coming into the contest hot, having won their last six games. Washington Union does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
