Softball Game Preview: Carson Senators vs. McQueen Lancers

Carson is 2-8 against McQueen since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Senators will head out to challenge the Lancers at 4:00 p.m. Carson has given up an average of 8.4 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Carson heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came up short against Reed, falling 12-1. The Senators' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it seven in a row.

Kiele Franco was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double. Lillian Barker was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, McQueen faced Bishop Manogue in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Lancers lost 9-3 to the Miners. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Lancers have suffered since April 12th.

McQueen saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Vanessa Bein, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

McQueen moved to 18-14 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Carson, their loss dropped their record down to 9-17-1.

Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Carson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like McQueen struggles in that department as they've averaged .349. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Carson was able to grind out a solid victory over McQueen in their previous matchup two weeks ago, winning 10-5. Will the Senators repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
