Baseball Recap: Eastlake's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Eastlake had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt San Ysidro on Monday. The Titans put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Titans not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since March 8th (when they won 13-1).

Nick Romero tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hamza Hatahet and Luca Penteraini did most of the damage at the plate: Hatahet got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Penteraini went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Penteraini a new career-high. Ryan Garcia was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

Eastlake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as San Ysidro only managed two hits.

The win was the third in a row for Eastlake, bringing their record up to 15-8-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for San Ysidro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-11.

Eastlake has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Montgomery on the 14th. As for San Ysidro, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 7-4 victory against Bonita Vista on the 14th.
