Softball Recap: Greenbrier Drops Season-High Score on Harlem

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greenbrier). They put the hurt on the Harlem Bulldogs with a sharp 16-7 win on Wednesday. With that victory, the Wolfpack brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.

Harlem Waul and Josie McQuillan did most of the damage at the plate: Waul went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple, while McQuillan got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those four RBI gave Waul a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Griffin, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

The win made it two in a row for Greenbrier and bumps their season record up to 7-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Harlem, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-5.

Coming up, Greenbrier will be taking part in a tournament against Glascock County at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Harlem, they are taking a road trip to square off against Academy of Richmond County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
