Basketball Recap: Hoffman Estates Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Hoffman Estates can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Prospect Knights and fell 64-18. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 376th, while the Knights are ranked 14th).

Allison Linke continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Prospect, almost dropping a triple-double with 16 points, 11 boards, and nine assists. What's more, Linke racked up six steals, the most she's had since back in January of 2025. Zoe Black was another key player, shooting 43% from the field to rack up 17 points and seven rebounds.

Hoffman Estates has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-17 record this season. As for Prospect, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 20-10.

Hoffman Estates does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Prospect, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-28 victory against Conant on the 19th.
