Softball Recap: West Brook Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Shore, West Brook was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Kountze Lions. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Bruins' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Calleigh Burton (2027) made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Ke'Jirah ?Tweety? McDonald (2027) was incredible, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Keyunna Thomas was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one run.

West Brook's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7-1. As for Kountze, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

West Brook didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 21-1 loss against Barbers Hill on the 24th. As for Kountze, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-5 defeat against Big Sandy on the 19th.
